Cambodia ... Angkor Wat
Angkor wat is a temple compex near Siem Reap. It was built during the 12th century with each new kings adding additional temples.
During the 16th century it was abandoned and lost to the surrounding jungle. In 1860, Henri Mouhot, rediscoved the vast mysterious mass of ruins. He publised his findings in his travel notes and wrote "One of these temples—a rival to that of Solomon, and erected by some ancient Michelangelo—might take an honorable place beside our most beautiful buildings. It is grander than anything left to us by Greece or Rome"
