Thailand ...Koh Lanta and Ao Nang

We decided to spend a week in each place.

Just over an hour flight from Penang to Krabi airport in Thailand. Then it was 2 hours to our first destination, an island off the coast -- Koh Lanta.

It took two car ferries. Here we are sitting in the van on the car ferry. Docking in strong current so the tug in the picture is keeping the back of the car ferry from swinging around.

The best food I have ever tasted. It also runs a cookery school and the animal welfare home we visited later.

Seren waiting her time out for some misdemeanor

Great position at the back of the longtail boat. What could go wrong?

The delighted faces of the crew when the gearbox blew up and we were stranded at sea.

Another boat came along then dropped us off at this island. Not the worst place to be stranded.

Then a much smaller boat picked us up to carry on the day. I had a bleat about that but not much they could do.

Then the storm came. We were last to board the smaller boat so had no shelter. It ended up more of a submarine than boat. It started with us just being drowned rats then the waves intensified and spray whipped down the whole boat. I must be a bad person It was kind of nice when everyone ended up as soaked as us.

The one good point is when Seren need to go for a wee. No toilets and an hour from land. With a bucket of water tipping over our heads every 5 seconds you don't even have to leave your seat. Not that we had seats. Not enough so we were just draped over the bow trying to hold on.

Back on dry land they gave us a 50% money back and big discounts. I don't think anyone else asked the question so paid full price.

Other trips were more ordinary sailing

Apart from Xmas day where they said they would pick us up at 12.30. We phoned at 1:30 and yes they were still going to pick us up. Of course they never arrived. Ruined an important day

I saw red and not in a friendly Santa way. Had to push but finally got  restoration

Water is just beautiful. Clear, warm with lots of fish.

Back at our hotel my master gesticulates but I still wait patiently for her to throw the ball.

nice drink

All you want is a quiet spot to have
a wee but someone always wants to
take your picture

The boat crew also double as fire eaters. They are somewhere in the fire ball. Does this mean I have to row?

Stare to much at the sand
and you start to see all
crazy patterns.

Mr Grumpy does not want his photo taken.

The food in Thailand is fantastic. I can barely type this without salivating for a green Thai curry. Thats it. I am out of here. Curry calling.
